Domaine Pierre Péters — Le Mesnil-sur-Oger
Located in the heart of the Côte des Blancs in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Domaine Pierre Péters embodies the very essence of Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru excellence. This sixth-generation family estate exclusively grows and crafts Chardonnay-based Champagnes from the most prestigious chalk terroirs in the region. Under the direction of Rodolphe Péters, the domaine has achieved worldwide acclaim for the purity, precision, and elegance of its wines.
Terroirs & Vineyard
The domaine covers approximately 20 hectares, primarily in the Grand Cru villages of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize, and Cramant. This mosaic of parcels — many planted with 30- to 50-year-old vines — rests on pure chalk soils, giving the wines their hallmark saline tension and precise minerality.
- Les Chétillons (Le Mesnil-sur-Oger) — Three east-facing parcels with 50+ year-old vines. The estate’s most iconic terroir, producing structured, linear wines with exceptional aging potential.
- Les Montjolys (Le Mesnil-sur-Oger) — A lieu-dit with clay and flint soils, yielding richer, more generous Blanc de Blancs while retaining Mesnil’s signature freshness.
Viticulture & Winemaking
The estate follows sustainable viticulture with no insecticides, natural ground cover, and meticulous parcel selection. In the cellar, the philosophy focuses on clarity and precision:
- Fermentation mostly in stainless steel tanks to preserve the chalky tension.
- Use of a perpetual reserve started in 1988, the backbone of the Réserve and special cuvées.
- Measured dosage and patient aging to let the terroir shine — no oak on the main cuvées.
Signature Cuvées
- Cuvée de Réserve — Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru: the emblematic expression of Pierre Péters’ style, balancing freshness and depth through the perpetual reserve.
- Cuvée Millésimée “L’Esprit”: a taut, mineral blend from multiple Grand Cru villages.
