Domaine Pellegrin — Geneva

A family legacy revived with precision

Rooted in Satigny, Domaine Pellegrin stands among the most refined estates in the Geneva wine landscape. After studying archaeology, Jean-Pierre Pellegrin took over the family estate in 1989 and began vinifying himself in 1994. He converted a 17th-century farmhouse into an artisanal winery, crafting wines defined by finesse, precision, and deep respect for the land.

Today, the estate farms 14 ha of owned vineyards and 30 ha under lease, cultivating more than 25 grape varieties using organic but uncertified practices.

Terroirs and grape varieties

The vineyards are planted between 425 and 500 meters above sea level on Jurassic, partly calcareous soils within the AOC Genève appellation. This geological and climatic diversity allows each grape variety to fully express its identity.

Main grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Gamaret, Auxerrois, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Kerner, Riesling, Viognier.

Estate style — Swiss precision and finesse

Nicknamed “the watchmaker of Swiss vignerons,” Jean-Pierre Pellegrin crafts wines that balance clarity and depth. Red wines (such as Grand’Cour Rouge and P Pinot Noir) are defined by silky tannins, precise structure, and freshness. White wines, vinified in tank, amphora, or barrel, display saline tension, aromatic purity, and length.

Winemaking and ageing

  • Hand harvesting in several passes
  • Indigenous yeast fermentations (selected yeasts for simpler cuvées)
  • Parcel-based vinification adapted to each grape variety
  • Ageing in stainless steel, amphora, or Burgundy and Bordeaux barrels

Signature cuvées

Grand’Cour Rouge — Elegant Bordeaux-style blend, a benchmark for Geneva.

P (Pinot Noir) — Silky, precise red with a pure, linear texture.

Grand’Cour Blanc — Sauvignon, Riesling, Kerner; sometimes aged in amphora for added finesse.

Other cuvées — Gamaret, Syrah, Chardonnay, structured white blends.
