Domaine Geantet-Pansiot – Gevrey-Chambertin

A distinguished family estate of the Côte de Nuits: generous fruit, precision and the pure voice of the terroir

The Estate

Founded in 1954 by Edmond Geantet and Bernadette Pansiot, Domaine Geantet-Pansiot has become one of the leading names in Gevrey-Chambertin. Originally a small family operation, the domaine now spans close to twenty hectares of vines across some of the finest appellations of the Côte de Nuits—Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Marsannay, Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, and Savigny-lès-Beaune. Under the guidance of Vincent and Fabien Geantet, representing the third generation, the domaine is known for wines of generous fruit, velvety texture and faithful expression of Burgundian terroir.

Terroir & Vineyard

The domaine is anchored in a mosaic of climats situated mainly around Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, complemented by parcels in Marsannay and several regional appellations. The soils—ranging from red clay to fractured limestone and stony scree—deliver contrasting yet complementary expressions: depth and gravitas in Gevrey, floral finesse in Chambolle, and bright, juicy energy in Marsannay. A significant portion of the vineyard is planted with old-vine Pinot Noir, providing naturally concentrated, deeply fruited cuvées.

Philosophy & Viticulture

Vineyard work follows a sustainable and highly exacting approach. The soils are carefully worked, herbicides and chemical fertilisers are excluded, and each parcel is tended to preserve its natural balance. Yields are kept voluntarily low to enhance concentration and precision. All grapes are harvested by hand, with meticulous sorting in the vineyard to select only the healthiest, ripest fruit. The goal is simple: let Pinot Noir and each individual climat speak with clarity and authenticity.

Winemaking & Ageing

In the cellar, the domaine embraces a precise, parcel-based vinification. Fermentations are carried out in small tanks, often with indigenous yeasts, to preserve the character of each site. Macerations are adapted to the vintage, favouring measured extraction for refined, polished tannins. Ageing takes place in French oak barrels, with the proportion of new oak tailored to the appellation—more pronounced for the most prestigious climats and more restrained for regional wines. The élevage adds depth and texture without masking the purity of the fruit.

Wine Style

Domaine Geantet-Pansiot wines are celebrated for their generous fruit, seductive texture and seamless balance. Aromas often include ripe red and black fruits (cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant), complemented by nuances of sweet spice, fresh earth, liquorice and occasional undergrowth. The palate is silky and full-bodied, with polished tannins and a refreshing tension that lengthens the finish. The top cuvées have notable , while still offering accessibility after a few years in bottle.

The domaine’s sole Grand Cru: generous, enveloping, deep-fruited and impressively ageworthy.

Chambolle-Musigny & Chambolle-Musigny “Vieilles Vignes”
More floral and delicate expressions: red-fruit purity, finesse and silky tannins.

Marsannay (Rouge) & Bourgogne Pinot Fin
Juicy, expressive and charming wines—an accessible introduction to the domaine’s style, while retaining the signature depth of the Côte de Nuits.
