Saint-Estèphe – Médoc, Bordeaux

Château Calon Ségur: noble power, vibrant depth and timeless emotion

With its iconic heart on the label and a unique style that blends power, depth and emotion, Château Calon Ségur embodies one of the most noble and endearing expressions of the Médoc. Classified as a Third Growth in 1855, this historic estate is among the oldest and most respected names in the Saint-Estèphe appellation — a symbol of elegance and authenticity.

A love story with the land

The name “Calon” originally referred to a small boat used to transport wood on the Gironde. In the 18th century, the estate rose to prominence thanks to the Marquis de Ségur, who also owned Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Latour.

“I make wine at Lafite and Latour, but my heart is at Calon.”

Terroir & Grape Varieties

The 55-hectare vineyard lies on a rise of deep gravel mixed with clay, typical of Saint-Estèphe. This exceptional terroir brings structure, freshness, and remarkable ageing potential to the wines.

A racy, tense and vibrant style

Calon Ségur wines combine density and refinement: noble tannins, a fresh backbone and vibrant energy. The aromatic palette evolves beautifully with age, from blackberry and black cherry to deeper notes of cedar, truffle and tobacco. These are wines of profound emotion — powerful yet always graceful.
