Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru — The Mineral Purity and Depth of Gevrey

At the southernmost edge of Gevrey-Chambertin, Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru stands among the most discreet and refined crus of the Côte de Nuits. With just 7.3 ha shared by around 12 producers and an annual production of about 40,000 bottles, this Grand Cru is admired for its finesse, mineral tension and remarkable aging potential.

A Terroir of Pure Expression

The Latricières-Chambertin climat is based on limestone and marl soils, perfectly drained and facing southeast. Its name likely comes from Latriciaria, evoking a “stony, cool place” — a precise description of this austere, mineral terroir. The vines ripen slowly here, preserving vibrant acidity and creating wines of refined structure and natural tension.

Style & Aromatic Profile

Young Latricières-Chambertin wines are often subtle and tightly woven, showing notes of black fruits (blackberry, blueberry), bramble, mushroom, and forest floor, with occasional herbal and spicy accents. With time — typically after 15–20 years or more — they gain noble complexity, evolving toward truffle, fine leather, and humus. On the palate, they display a silky texture, fine tannins, and remarkable length, combining elegance with depth.
