Domaine Dal Forno Romano – Excellence from Valpolicella
Founded in 1983, Domaine Dal Forno Romano produces around 60,000 bottles annually, spread across three wines that are among the most sought-after and expensive in Italy. Romano Dal Forno established his estate with 8 hectares of vineyard, focusing on the Corvina and Rondinella varieties, known for their small yields and rigorous selection during harvest.
Dal Forno’s flagship wine is Amarone della Valpolicella, made with fruit from older vineyards (10 to 30 years of age). The estate’s younger vines contribute to the production of Valpolicella, a wine that receives the same meticulous care and attention.
Dal Forno describes Amarone as more than just a wine: "What is Amarone della Valpolicella to you? A wine that you cannot discuss. It's an emotion, and emotions cannot be discussed."
The estate spans 25 hectares in total, with wines known for their richness, complexity, and exceptional aging potential. The Amarone della Valpolicella Vigneto di Monte Lodoletta is a powerful wine, with aromas of dark fruits, spices, and chocolate, considered one of the best in Italy.
The Valpolicella Superiore Vigneto di Monte Lodoletta is elegant, with notes of cherry and plum, while Vigne Seré, a sweet wine, is rich in candied fruits, honey, and spices. Dal Forno Romano wines are regularly praised by critics, with the 2017 Amarone earning 98 points from James Suckling.
