It was one day July 1997 that René Barbier showed Christopher and his wife Charlotte an abandoned vineyard just north of Gratallops called “Figueres”.
Initially the wines were made in the Clos Mogador cellar outside Gratallops. The first wine was just 1200 bottles of our second wine, Font de la Figuera 1999.
Today three red wines and one white wine are produced : Clos Figueres from the old vines, Font de la Figuera Tinto from the vines planted back in 1998 and the recently launched Serras del Priorat, a more fruit driven wine for early consumption while maintaining all the classic Priorat characteristics.
The flagship wine, Clos Figueres, is very rare (2'500 bottles produced) and absolutly delicious.

Clos I Terrasses, a small winery in the municipality of Gratallops in the area of the Priory, was born in 1989, when current Priorat legends Alvaro Palacios and Rene Barbier persuaded their friend Daphne Glorian to do something crazy: spend all her savings on some old Garnacha vines planted on 17 terraces of hillside vines, just outside the village of Gratallops.
Laurel is the second wine of the estate’s critically acclaimed flagship wine, Clos Erasmus, one of Spain’s most sought after cult wines.
Only 3000 bottles of Clos Erasmus are bottled in an average vintage despite new plantings and vineyards being developed. The goal at Clos i Terrasses is to retain the character of Clos Erasmus while continuing to improve the quantity and quality of Laurel.
Clos Mogador is a winery found in the village of Gratallops. It was founded in 1982, and is owned by René Barbier, one of the Priorat´s Renaissance pioneers.
Clos Mogador winery covers 13 hectares. Six hectares are made of 80 years old Cariñena, two hectares of 6 years old Cabernet-Sauvignon, three hectares of 6 years old Garnacha and 2 ha of 6 year old are Syrah.
Espectacle’s fruit is sourced from a single vineyard of 100+-year-old Garnacha vines located at La Figuera on the northern edge of the Montsant DO. The vineyard is looked after by Rene Barbier’s Clos Mogador team and the wine is vinified in one 4000-liter oak vat at Celler Laurona. This results in the production of about 5000 bottles in a normal year.
Clos Payrol is a tiny estate in Pomerol on the right bank of Bordeaux.
The vines are situated on argilo-graveleux soils and are 35 to 50 years in average age.
The winemaker is Philippe Baillarguet of famed Saint-Émilion estate, Chateau Ausone.
The estate encompasses 10 hectares and the brothers use organic farming methods, limiting yields and only harvesting once the grapes have reached perfect maturity.
They produce three red cuvées:
the Poyeux, wines with great scope and wonderful finesse with a beautiful deep ruby shade and the Bourg cuvée, a refined, dense wine that is aged in new oak barrels for 18 to 24 months.
As for whites, the Brezé cuvée is now one of the best white wines in the Loire Valley.
Built in 1967 in a rural setting in the Northern Highlands opposite its now-silent sister distillery, Brora, Clynelish has continued to produce a muscular, slightly peaty whisky much valued by blenders – it is one of the base spirits for the excellent Johnnie Walker Gold Label.
Situated in South Corsica in the Taravo valley, the domaine Comte Abbatucci was founded in 1950.
With 18 hectares of vineyards planted on granite slopes at 100m above sea level, the domaine is a veritable museum of Corsican viticultural history and heritage.
Antoine Abbatucci, father of the current winemaker Jean-Charles Abbatucci, was a passionate man and was devoted to local grape varieties.
Continuum Estate was founded in 2005 and is located on Pritchard Hill in the Vaca Mountains, the range that forms the Eastern boundary above Napa Valley.
Continuum focuses on a single proprietary premium red wine each vintage with the intent to be recognized as one of the world’s great wines. Their first release was in 2005 – a typical production is around 4,000 cases per year. 2008 was the first year that fruit was included from their new estate property. Prior vintages were sourced from Marjorie’s Vineyard in the famed Mondavi To Kalon Vineyard in the heart of Oakville as well as from the Stags Leap District. The first vintage that included all fruit from their estate was in 2012.
The Monfalletto property is in the town of La Morra, the center of the production of Barolo wine.
The total vineyard area of grape production for all Cordero di Montezemolo wines is 38 hectares (94 acres).
The barolo "Monfalletto" is the historic wine of the winery.
Corison Winery was founded and is owned by Cathy Corison.
Corison has several labels – the Corazon or “heart” in Spanish, is merely limited production lighter style wines. The Gewurztraminer under this label is from older grapes grown in Mendocino County’s Anderson Valley.
