Most wanted wine estate by region:
Domaine Sérafin Pere & Fils is run by second-generation vigneron Christian Sérafin.
The domaine encompasses 5.3 hectares of vines in the communes Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-St.-Denis, and Chambolle-Musigny.
It was the great-grandfather of the current wine grower Stéphane Magnien who founded the family domaine.
The small (4.5 hectares) vineyard is located in the heart of the village of Morey Saint Denis.
For four generations, the vines have been carefully worked, with ploughing and without any weed control, the aim being to maximise the expression of terroirs.
Michel Ogier is a relative newcomer to the top ranks of the wine-making world: up until 1980 he sold his entire crop, on the vine, to Messrs Chapoutier and Guigal.
One of the most progressive estates in Arbois is Domaine André et Mireille Tissot, founded in 1962.
They produce 28 wines, each a remarkable distillation of vineyard and grape and frank individuality.
Stéphane Tissot converted the estate to all organic practices in 1999, followed by biodynamic methods in 2004.
Sylvie Esmonin is an energetic and passionate winemaker, and an avid traditionalist. The domaine is fully organic but not certified.
The estate comprises five hectares in Gevrey-Chambertin, with a sizeable plot of the Premier Cru Clos St-Jacques just behind the family house’s garden!
The TAUPENOT-MERME Domaine is located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, in Morey Saint Denis, and cultivates 13 Ha of vines spread over 20 appellations in the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits.
The goal at Domaine Taupenot-Merme is to produce wines with complex but pure flavors, paying respect to their terroirs.
The three single-vineyards of Domaine Tempier are: La Migoua, La Tourtine, and Cabassaou.
La Migoua is made up of heterogeneous clay that varies in color between red, ochre, and blue. La Migoua has the smallest amount of Mourvèdre in the blend, with the highest percentage of Grenache of the three cuvées.
La Tourtine sits just above Cabassaou. The soil here is more homogeneous, with rich clay. La Tourtine produces powerful, tannic wines with gorgeous fruit character.
Since Cabassaou sits lower on this hillside, it is protected from the strength of the Mistral, enjoying temperate breezes and maximum sunshine. There is ripeness, density and power in these wines.
Thibaud Boudignon is unquestionably one of the most exciting figures in wine today.
It was in 2009 that he began to make wine under his own name from a scant 3.5 ha in the heart of Anjou and Savennieres.
This domaine, located in Nuits-St.-Georges, has been in the Liger-Belair family for 250 years. In 2001, Vincent’s son, Thibault Liger-Belair, took over the vines as the winemaker and created Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair.
Domaine Tollot-Beaut is one of a very select band of Côte d’Or domaines.
The 24 hectare domaine of Tollot-Beaut sits modestly in the centre of Chorey-lès-Beaune.
Since 1626, the Trimbach family has been promoting the history, exceptional terroirs and fine wines of Alsace.
Its top Riesling cuvées, Cuvée Frédéric Emile and Clos St Hune, are made from grapes grown exclusively on grand cru sites.
The Vacheron Estate covers 48 hectares, half of which are located on flint soils, and the other half on limestone soils. The winegrowers Jean-Louis, Denis, Jean-Dominique et Jean-Laurent Vacheron chose to express the typicities of their different slots separately: the vines have been certified organic agriculture, using biodynamie since 2008. Their cuvee "Les Romains" is a great expression of Sauvignon Blanc, and the cuvee "Les Belles Dames" a great Pinot Noir. The Vacheron Estate therefore demonstrates that exceptional wines can be made in Sancerre.
