  • WEINGUT GERNOT UND HEIKE HEINRICH

    Domaine Heinrich is located in Gols, in the north of Burgenland, Austria, and is renowned for producing some of the country's most celebrated red wines. Founded by Gernot Heinrich and his wife Heike, the estate specializes in biodynamic viticulture and focuses on red varietals such as Zweigelt, Sankt Laurent, Blaufränkisch, and Merlot, while also producing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc) wines.

    According to Parker "Philipp Grassl is one of the younger shooting stars of the past decade in Carnuntum. He farms 25 hectares of wines, but processes the grapes of another 13 hectares from contracted grape growers. Twenty percent of his production is white (Grüner Veltliner, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc), and 80% is red (mainly Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch).     In 1984, back when a 20-year-old Markus Molitor took over his father’s winegrowing estate, the Mosel was mired deep in a crisis.

    Starting with roughly two hectares of vines, the young winegrower was determined to rekindle the spirit of the golden age of Riesling. His vision has now very much become reality.

    The Riesling specialist currently cultivates 20 top sites along the Mosel and Saar and has secured his estate’s reputation as one of Germany’s very finest.

    Erected in the late 19th century for the winegrowing estate, the main building underwent three years of painstaking renovation and expansion that ultimately earned it the “Architecture Prize for Wine".

  • WEINGUT METZGER

    The Metzger Winery is located about 23 km west of Mannheim, in Asselheim near Grünstadt. The Metzger family has been growing wine here for several generations, and Uli is currently in charge of the business.

    The soils around Asselheim are characterized by limestone marl. Here, the Metzgers grow grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Tempranillo. The wines that are produced here have a strong character, but also a balanced acidity. The Metzger family vineyards sit in the Sonnenberg, Vogelsang and St. Stephan sites.
