  • mayacamas vineyard

Founded way back in 1889 by a pickle magnate called John Henry Fisher, the original property was planted to the vine and a winery was built so that barrels of the estate wine could be produced and sold in San Francisco. Thanks to the earthquake of 1906, Fisher went out of business and was forced to sell the estate, following which it fell into disrepair until the end of prohibition. By 1941 it had been purchased by an Englishman called Jack Taylor, who re-christened it Mayacamas (after the Native American word for the property) and embarked on a replanting program. When Bob Travers took over in 1968, Mayacamas was already well respected locally, but Bob – who had trained at Heitz Cellars and was a protégé of Andre Tchelistcheff – saw there was potential to make world-class wine there. From his very first vintage, Bob fulfilled this promise, and by the time of the 1976 tasting in Paris (which included the ’71 Cabernet), Mayacamas was regarded as one of California’s great wineries.

  • Moët & Chandon

Moët & Chandon's history began in 1743 when Claude Moët, a wine merchant in Épernay, founded the Maison Moët. In 1833, the winery took the name of Moët et Chandon when Pierre-Gabriel Chandon entered the management team. He was the son-in-law of Jean-Rémy Moët, who was then the company's director. Jean-Rémy was the founder's grandson and a great original-thinking entrepreneur who started the large-scale expansion of Moët & Chandon Champagne throughout Europe and all over the world.

With more than 1,150 hectares in the Champagne region, 50% of them classed as Grand Cru and a further 25% as Premier Cru, Moët & Chandon can count upon an extensive variety of vineyards of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, the three predominant grapes in Champagne production. The easily-recognisable house style is epitomised by its lively fruity character, seductive palate and elegant maturity.

  • Moillard

"Today, the Moillard wine estate – Domaine Moillard – spreads over Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, from Vougeot to Volnay over nearly twenty hectares (around 49 acres). Half of the wines produced are Premiers Crus.
Just as in 1950, the idea of a job well done remains fundamental on the estate. Here wines of rare finesse and elegance faithful to Burgundian tradition, whose structure and power bring you great cellaring potential, are crafted."

  • Mouton Cadet

After the acclaimed vintages of 1928 and 1929, the vintage of 1930 and the following two harvests were dire, and the wine that de Rothschild felt was not worthy of the Mouton-Rothschild name was this time named Mouton Cadet.

  • Nicolas Barbou

"This estate is one of the best-kept secrets of the Tours region. But who is the winemaker? It’s none other than Nicolas Barbou, the son of Dominique and Véronique Barbou, owners of Domaine des Corbillières in Touraine. After training under Jean-Yves Bizot until 2021 (who greatly influenced his winemaking style), Nicolas traveled to New Zealand to gain experience before returning to his home region in Touraine, Loire Valley, to start his own vineyard.

Artist or winemaker? Nicolas' vision is to craft wines that evoke deep emotions from a range of grape varieties such as Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Chenin, Gamay, and even Pinot Noir. His first cuvée, Utopie Créative, set the tone for the rest of his range, both captivating and bold. His decisions in the vineyard and the winery are meticulous, highlighting the talent of this highly skilled winemaker who is just at the beginning of his journey. Definitely one to watch closely!"
