  • Gianfranco Soldera - Case Basse

    The Case Basse Estate was founded in 1972. His wines are widely regarded as Brunello’s Holy Grail.

    While the modern-era Montalcino has seen a rush to French barrique and less time in wood, Soldera continues to age his Brunello for five years in large Slavonian oak tanks and vats.

    At their best Soldera's Brunellos have a level of armoatic complexity, sweet fruit, and overall balance breathtaking.

  • Giovanni Battista Columbu

    Columbu is one of the last producers of Malvasia di Bosa. There are only 50 hectares of vines still cultivated near Bosa for this kind of wine. Columbu controls only a handful of those hectares.

  • Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio

    Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio surely ranks as one of Barolo’s finest producers.

    The Mascarello family property extends over 15 hectares of vineyards, all located within the Barolo wine-growing area.

  • Giuseppe RINALDI

    Giuseppe Rinaldi is one of the key figures of the Barolo movement. 

    He inherited the role from his father Battista, a stern, strong character who served as mayor of the town of Barolo from 1970 to 1975.

    Giuseppe himself, also known as Beppe, passed on the torch to his daughters Marta and Carlotta, who are eager to continue their father’s work.

    Since 1993 the winery has been producing two pairs of different blends out of grapes from the estate’s own historic vineyards: Brunate and Le Coste on one side (today’s featured wine), Cannubi San Lorenzo and Ravera on the other.

    These two wines are sold only 10 years after the original harvest, effectively making them special reserves. For the aging of wine, only Slavonian oak 30 – 60 hl barrels are employed, as the traditional, time-honored method forbids the use of smaller barrels.

  • Glen Grant

    Glen Grant is one of Speyside's most recognised distilleries. It was built in 1839 by James and John Grant, and was a huge facility for its time. Its size increased exponentially over time, in the hands of John's son, John "The Major" Grant (who also built the short-lived Caperdonich next-door), and twice in the 1970s following the merger with The Glenlivet Distillers and its subsequent takeover by Seagram. Glen Grant was bottled as a single malt as early as the late-19th century, and developed a global export market.

    None perhaps as important as in Italy, where their agent in the 1960s, Armando Giovinetti, turned it into the nation's favourite whisky, after discovering the palate preferences of his countrymen for very young single malts. So loved is Glen Grant in Italy, that the distillery is now owned by Gruppo Campari, who bought it from Pernod Ricard in 2006. 

  • Gould Campbell

    The firm was founded in 1797 by Garret Gould, who left his native Ireland for Portugal and established a trading company with offices in both Lisbon and Porto. 

    Gould Campbell has come to establish a reputation for excellent quality of their Ports and their Vintage Ports in particular.

  • Grattamacco

    Situated on a hilltop overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, Grattamacco is in an ideal position to produce some of the finest wines in Italy.

    Grattamacco, founded in 1977 by Piermario Meletti Cavallari.

    14 hectares of organically farmed vineyards lie over three distinct soil types at 100 meters above sea level.

  • Greenock Creek

    The Greenock Creek Wines story commenced in 1976 when Michael purchased a 20 acre property at Seppeltsfield in the Barossa Valley.

    In 1994 the Roennfeldt Road property was purchased, consisting of approximately six acres of very old Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache vines, and around eight acres of apricot orchard. The 1995 vintage was the first release of the Roennfeldt Road Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz; wines that were to become the flagship of the Greenock Creek range.

  • Gualdo del re

    This young estate is located in Suvereto, a warm microclimate for yielding wines of notable concentration as well as power.

    Gualdo del Re's top wine is the French oak-aged 100 % Merlot Il Rennero.

  • Guiberteau

    Romain Guiberteau has been in charge of the 14.5 hectare family domain in the communes of Montreuil-Bellay, Brézé and Bizay since 1996.

    The vineyard has been certified organic since 2003 and is planted with Chenin and Cabernet Franc. Some of the vines are around 60 years old.

  • Hacienda Monasterio

    Hacienda Monasterio is an estate wine project. All grapes come from their own surrounding vineyards which currently total 95 hectares. It is located in Pesquera de Duero in the province of Valladolid, close to Valbuena’s monastery and to Vega Sicilia, of which it was part in the 19th century.

    With Pingus owner Peter Sisseck consulting from the very beginning and winemaker Carlos de la Fuente managing day-to-day tasks, Hacienda Monasterio is one of the most solid ventures within the appellation, their wines enjoying an enviable price positioning among Ribera’s producers.

  • Haegelen-Jayer

    Domaine Haegelen-Jayer is a 10-acre estate in Clos de Vougeot. It is owned and operated by Alfred Haegelen and his wife Madeleine, a niece of the legendary winemaker and family patriarch Henri Jayer. The domain owns Grand Cru parcels in Clos de Vougeot and Echezeaux, and Premier Crus in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Clive Coates has written that Haegelen’s wines “are full without being robust and are rich and concentrated…This is a good source.”
