Alvaro Palacios, whose family owns the prestigious Rioja Bodega, spent 2 years at Château Pétrus before setting up on his own in Priorat in 1989.
The cream of the crop is the single vineyard wine L'Ermita, which was first produced in 1993.
It is a blend of 80% Garnacha, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cariñena, and is aged in new French barriques for up to 20 months. It is bottled unfiltered.

Eric Janin is the fourth generation of his family to lead Domaine Paul Janin et Fils in the Moulin-à-Vent Cru in Beaujolais. The domaine started in 1918, when Eric's great-grandfather decided to focus solely on growing grapes and making wine.
Penfolds Grange is an Australian wine, made predominantly from the Syrah grape and a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon.
It is widely considered one of Australia's "first growth" and its most collectable wine.
Production is small and several wines produced are quantities of less than 50 cases. Old vines are the norm; every wine – with the exception of the Morey St. Denis, Rue de Vergy and the Gevrey-Chambertin – is produced from vines of at least 45 years of age. For the wines given the moniker ‘Cuvée Ultra,’ the vines are 70 to 110 years old!
What strikes most is the overriding quality of the wines up and down the scale, from the villages Morey St. Denis to the stunning Nuits St. Georges, 1er Cru La Richemone to the sublime Clos de Bèze.
The seeds of Domaine Peyre Rose were sown in 1973 when estate agent Marlene Soria, who was working in the Languedoc selling holiday apartments, purchased a property as a holiday home for herself.
Starting in 1990 the wines were given immediate and, within a few years, was making some of the most impressive, age worthy and expensive wines of the region.
They produce two spectacular Syrah based wines - Clos des Cistes (with 15% Grenache) and Clos Leone (with 15% Mourverdre).
Today the domaine encompasses 25 hectares of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines, with 36 different appellations divided into 140 parcels.
Philippe's goal, quoting Mr. Jayer, is "to make wines that are good to drink both when young and when old."

A nature lover, Steve Bettschen is first and foremost a great wine connoisseur following eleven years spent with a renowned Swiss wine merchant. Called by the land and production, he bought his first vine in 2007.

Domaine Pierre Amiot et Fils has been producing wines in Morey St. Denis for five generations.
The 25-acre domain has Grand Cru parcels in Clos-Saint-Denis, Clos de la Roche and Charmes Chambertin.
