Most wanted wine estate by region:
Michel Niellon operates out of two small cellars in Chassagne, producing quite simply sublime wines.
He has only 6 hectares of vines, which include small holdings in Chevalier and Bâtard-Montrachet.
Old vines and low yields give these wines their intensity, along with Niellon`s supreme winemaking skills.
The Domaine has 20 hectares of vineyards, including small parcels of Clos de Vougeot and Richebourg.
These are sturdy, concentrated, well-proportioned wines that over the years have become more elegant and refined.
Moreau-Naudet is a 17th century family estate which in the hands of Stéphane Moreau and his wife Virginie, transmits their passion and respect for the vineyards.
Through organic and biodynamic work they quickly became one of the most exciting young producers in Chablis with long-aged but easy-to-drink wines.
A work that was interrupted by the unfortunate death of Stéphane in 2016 and that, after a period of uncertainty, leads Virginia to commit to continue the project that she started with her husband with the same style.
Domaine Morey-Coffinet goes back to 1978, when it was created from vineyards from two other Chassagne domaines – Domaine Marc Morey and Domaine Coffinet.
Domaine Morey-Coffinet produces 14 different wines.
The domain was created in 1933 following the marriage of André Mugneret, from an old Vosne Romanée family, and Jeanne Gibourg in 1928. Their son, Dr Georges Mugneret, whose principal profession was as an opthalmist, purchased further vineyards using a label in his own name.
There are few estates that capture the seductive power of Burgundian Pinot Noir as faithfully as does Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg in Vosne.
The history of Naudin Ferrand dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, when Claire Deroye convinced her husband Henri Naudin to purchase some vines in Burgundy. This passion passed from generation to generation, and in 1994 it was Claire Naudin took up the family estate. Today, the domain spans 22 hectares and respects responsible agriculture. This family domain has vineyards covering the Hautes Côtes, in the regional appellations of Hautes-Côtes de Beaune and Haute-Côtes de Nuits. Chardonnay is grown here for the white wines, and Pinot Noir for the reds. Gamay and Aligoté are also cultivated by the domain. According to Claire Naudin, viticulture is something you should live without fear of experimenting, for example with biodynamics. This approach has allowed her to create elegant and pure cuvées with much freshness and depth. They offer a lovely illustration of Burgundy's terroirs.
Nicolas Rossignol is one of the best examples of a new generation of Burgundy wine makers whose great wines lie in the future rather than the past.
Today, Nicolas makes wine from his own 17 acre estate, as well as from his fathers's vineyards.
Since 1994 Robert has vinified separately the Viogner grapes from his holdings in the Coteau de Chery and La Roncharde vineyards (the latter goes into Condrieu Les Ravines).
The average vine age in the Coteau de Chery is high (30-50 years old) and the wines are powerful, well-structured and often exotically rich.
Vincent and Catherine took over responsibility for the domaine in 1989 – the year when they made an excellent 1989 Coteaux du Layon St Lambert Cuvée Prestige and followed this success with an award winning 1990 Coteaux du Layon St Lambert Cuvée Prestige.
Olivier Leflaive is the son of Joseph, nephew of Vincent and cousin of Anne-Claude. He was co-manager of Domaine Leflaive with his uncle Vincent from 1982-1990, and with Anne-Claude from 1990-1994, by which time the négociant business, which he had started in 1985 in order to have some wines to play with outside Puligny-Montrachet, had really blossomed.
Production is now around 70,000 cases across 65 different appellations, 85 per cent in white wine. Included in the production are his own vineyards which cover 15 hectares in Puligny, Chassagne and Meursault.
Wines which are solely from Olivier Leflaive’s own vines are marked ‘Récolte du Domaine’.
The Domaine Ostertag is a mythical estate in Alsace has found a second wind with the arrival of Andre Ostertag's son (precursor of the Domaine's style), Arthur, in 2018 - his first vintage alone at the helm.
After a stint at the Domaine des Comtes Lafon in Meursault, he refined and intensified the approach instilled by his father.
The result of a biodynamic work of the vine for twenty years, completed by a vinification always precise and pure. The magnums of Domaine Ostertag wines presented on this site come directly from the estate.
Overnoy is an icon of the Jura.
This family domain in Pupillin has been overseen by Pierre Overnoy since 1968. Overnoy refuses to use chemical products or sulphites and has an anti-interventionist approach to winemaking
In 2001 he passed the baton over to Emmanuel Houillon, his adopted son who now manages the 5.5 hectares vineyard with his wife Anne.
With Chardonnay, Savignin and Poulsard vines, this domain has organic certification and also employs biodynamic methods.
