Most wanted wine estate by region:
The Domaine Beaux Frères was established on the west coast of the United States in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. It was founded in 1986 by Michael Etzel and Robert Parker, his famous brother-in-law. Both of them were associates up until Mr. Parker's parts were purchased by the Henriot group of Champagne in 2017, however Michael Etzel continues on as president and his son Mike has joined him as associate winemaker.
“Domaine Belargus now cultivates 24 hectares of vines entirely dedicated to Chenin Blanc, and the grapes express their terroir, representing dry wines as well as incredibly finessed and balanced sweet wines that I find simply breathtaking.”

Dominique Belluard farmed this small biodynamic estate at Ayse. It’s in the heart of the Haut Savoie valley of l’Arve in The French Alps. He was the third generation of the family to run it and took charge in 1988, converting it to biodynamic farming in 2001. Ayse (also spelt Ayze) is a Savoie wine “Cru” and is located just off the A40 Autoroute Blanche near Chamonix.
This Alpine domaine is at 450 metres, shared with orchards and dairy cattle. As a backdrop, nearby Mont Blanc provides the visual drama for these south-facing vineyards, some of which date back at least to the 13th Century.
The conditions here are remarkable – heat generated under clear skies by day ensures grape ripeness, yet the cold nights also help retain crystalline acidity and jasmine aromas.
The Domaine makes a range of excellent wines from the local Savoie grapes, such as Altesse for white and Mondeuse for red. However, they also grow something almost unique – the ultra-rare Gringet grape, a later-ripening variety, found nowhere else in the world but Ayse.
The Boisson-Vadot Domaine is currently undergoing a transition between the father, Bernard and his two children, Pierre and Anne, who also produce wines under their own name.
The domaine's white wines are absolutely remarkable. The élevage is lengthy but very few new barriques are used. The Meursaults, intense and perfect for aging, are never marked by the wood, even when young.
The winery’s roots go back to 1809 when Auguste Moreau built a cellar across from the Champs Gain vineyard and farmed his few hectares of Chardonnay and Pinot along the golden slope.
The majority of the domaine’s 14 hectares (out of which 9 are owned and five are farmed) were assembled by Marcel Moreau in the 1930s.
The Domaine’s most famous own vineyard is its 0.35 hectares of Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru Les Grandes Rouchotes, but the entire range represent Chassagne-Montrachet at its finest.
The vineyards of the historic Domaine Bertagna once belonged to the Cistercian monks, famous for founding Clos de Vougeot in the 13th century.
Bertagna produces wines from 18 wonderfully diverse appellations across the region, 12 of which are Grands or Premiers Crus.
Amélie Berthaut took over the family domaine located in the village of Fixin in 2013. 2013 was also the first year she was fully responsible entire range, although she participated in the making some of the 2012s (the 2012 Gevrey Chambertin 1er cru Lavaut st Jacques was the first wine solely made by her).
Amélie belongs to the group of young generation talented wine makers taking over more and more domaines in Burgundy over the last decade.
Jean-Claude and Romain Bessin-Tremblay have been lauded by the Wine Advocate’s William Kelley as an estate “that belongs among Chablis's top half-dozen domaines.”
The Greppo vineyards of the Biondi Santi family date back to the 1800s.
The estate has twenty five hectares dedicated to the production of the brunello. The traditional agronomy and cellaring practises are still used to give this grape its character and quality.
Biondi Santi is a legendary producer and the undisputed king of brunello !
Domaine Bizot is a very small property: three cuvées are made from a mere 1.7 hectares of vineyards in the Vosne-Romanée appellation. Jean-Yves Bizot lives in the street where Henri Jayer used to live and he uses his techniques for his wines; fermentation at low temperature in truncated wooden vats, for example. Bizot wines are bottled by hand, barrel by barrel, without filtration.
Domaine Blain-Gagnard was formed in 1980 when Jean-Marc Blain (a Sancerrois) married Claudine Gagnard, youngest daughter of Jacques and Marie-Josèphe Gagnard of Domaine Gagnard-Delagrange.
They now control 20.5 acres of vines in Chassagne-Montrachet, including holdings in three grands crus: Le Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet.
