Château Mouton Baron Philippe was renamed Château Mouton Baronne Philippe with the 1975 vintage, in tribute to Baroness Pauline, Baron Philippe de Rothschild’s second wife, who died in March 1976.

Château Armailhac, a close neighbor of Château Mouton Rothschild, has 50 hectares of vines at Pauillac.

Between 1959 and 1989, it was called successively Château Mouton Baron Philippe then Château Mouton Baroness Philippe.

The wine combines finesse and elegance with powerful, well-structure tannins.

Production : 220'000 bottles

Plantation density: 8'500 vines/ha;

Age of the vines : 49 years;

Best vintages: 2009, 2005, 2000, 1986, 1982, 1959, 1955, 1945;

Wine variety : 57 % cabernet sauvignon, 23 % merlot, 18 % cabernet franc, 2 % petit verdot.
