he 2016 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Champans is an exceptional Volnay Premier Cru, sourced from the clay-limestone soils of the Côte de Beaune. This terroir, ideal for Pinot Noir, imparts great finesse and remarkable elegance to the wine. On the nose, it offers a complex bouquet of ripe red fruits (cherry, raspberry), complemented by floral notes of violet and subtle spicy undertones. On the palate, the wine is characterized by a fine structure, with delicate tannins and perfectly balanced acidity. The fruit flavors are enhanced by nuances of dark chocolate and underbrush, adding pleasant complexity. The long finish is marked by a slight salinity, accentuating the wine’s freshness. It pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, cherry duck,. A perfect wine for Burgundy wine enthusiasts.

Domaine Marquis d’Angerville is situated in the heart of Volnay, in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune and consists of 13.5 hectares of vineyards, which includes holdings in no fewer than 8 Volnay 1er crus and smaller holdings in Pommard and Meursault. Pride of place belongs to the 2.90 hectare monopole of Clos Des Ducs in Volnay.
It is owned and run by Guillaume d’Angerville, who left his Paris banking job to take over in 2003 following the sudden death of his father, Jacques d’Angerville.
