Château Figeac 1985

Tasting notes

"(...) It is forward on the nose, laden with Provençal herbs, autumn leaves and cloves, certainly more forward than the 1985 Cheval Blanc, as one example. There is a fine definition and linearity on the entry, hints of dried blood percolating through the mass of dried herbs with a slight bitterness towards the finish. (...)"

INFORMATIONS ABOUT THE ESTATE

Château Figeac – Saint-Émilion
A Premier Grand Cru Classé A with a unique identity, balancing structure and elegance.

One of the most iconic estates on Bordeaux’s Right Bank
Located on the western edge of Saint-Émilion, Château Figeac boasts ancient roots dating back to Roman times. In the hands of the Manoncourt family since 1892, the estate has steadily earned its reputation for excellence.

In 2022, it was elevated to Premier Grand Cru Classé A, joining the elite ranks of Bordeaux’s finest châteaux.

A rare gravel terroir in Saint-Émilion
Unlike most of its neighbors, Figeac’s 54 hectares lie on deep gravel soils, more typical of the Médoc. This exceptional terroir allows for an unusual Right Bank blend:

  • 35% Cabernet Sauvignon

  • 35% Cabernet Franc

  • 30% Merlot

The result is a wine with precision, energy, and remarkable aging potential.

Style of the wine
Elegant, structured, and complex. Figeac offers aromas of black fruit, violet, graphite, and cedar, with a silky texture and long, mineral finish.

It’s a wine for collectors and connoisseurs seeking refined, intellectual Bordeaux with a soul.

Vintages to watch

2016
Elegant, balanced, and classically built. A great vintage for the cellar.

2018
Powerful and silky. Rich but vibrant, with outstanding depth.

2020
Bright and energetic. Intense fruit, tension, and finesse.
