Tasting notes

"(...) There is an intensity here, if not the complexity of the best millennial Pauillacs. The palate is medium-bodied with a mixture of red and black fruit, cedar and sous-bois percolating up through and rendering it a "serious" Pontet-Canet in keeping with the vintage. There is a subtle and yet insistent grip on the finish. It has always been a tannic wine, but these are now softening, albeit at a slower pace than some might like (...)."

Château Pontet-Canet – Pauillac, Bordeaux
A 5ᵗʰ Growth turned biodynamic pioneer, combining power, purity and elegance.

A historic estate in the heart of the Médoc
Founded in 1705, Pontet-Canet has been classified as a Fifth Growth since 1855. The estate has been owned and managed by the Tesseron family since 1975, led by Alfred Tesseron.

Exceptional terroir
Located in Pauillac, the vineyard covers 81 hectares on deep gravel soils.
Grape varieties:
– 65% Cabernet Sauvignon
– 30% Merlot
– 3% Cabernet Franc
– 2% Petit Verdot

A biodynamic pioneer in Bordeaux
Since 2004, the entire estate has been farmed biodynamically. Horses are used for plowing, and the soils are treated with respect to preserve their vitality. The estate is now fully certified (Biodyvin & Demeter).

Wine style
Pontet-Canet wines are expressive and elegant. Expect aromas of blackcurrant, violet, cedar, and graphite, with a silky texture, impressive depth, and a long, mineral finish.
