Blanc du Château VIEUX TAILLEFER 2018

Tasting notes

The Blanc du Château Vieux Taillefer is an unusual and unique wine, it is a wine made from vines located in the town of Saint Christophe des Bardes, in the heart of one of the most beautiful terroirs of Saint Emilion. The vines are over 75 years old, limestone soil with asterias, a blend of 5 different grape varieties: Sauvignon Blanc for the most part, but also Sémilion Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, Merlot Blanc, Chasselas ...
This white wine is the oldest parcel referenced in white grape varieties in Saint Emilion, in reality it is the only one that is not a creation, but a testimony to the history and heritage of Saint Emilion, its terroir is exceptional and its unique and rare wine.

INFORMATIONS ABOUT THE ESTATE

The 4.8 hectares of vineyards belonging to Château Vieux Taillefer, made up of Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, were bought at the end of 2006 by Catherine and Philippe Cohen. They settled in this terroir combining clay-limestone and crasse de fer (ferruginous sandstone) land in Vignonet on the banks of the river in the Libournais. The estate, produces three wines: Château Vieux Taillefer, Pavillon de Taillefer and Blanc du Château Vieux Taillefer. Fans of Bourgogne wines, the Cohens wanted to produce fruitful, pleasurable wines, unlike the usual Bordeaux classics.
