Henri Giraud MV13/14 Fut De Chene In Wooden Box

Tasting notes

A simply stunning blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, with a remarkable concentration stemming from 12 months ageing in Argonne oak.

"(...) the finest Champagne that I have ever tasted from Giraud is the NV Brut Grand Cru Aÿ Fût de Chêne MV13, a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay that's based on the 2013 vintage, supplemented by fully 40% older wine from a perpetual reserve. Wafting from the glass with a rich bouquet of buttered yellow orchard fruits, brioche, dried white flowers, peach, orange rind and smoke, complemented by some delicate oxidative top notes, it's full-bodied, broad and vinous, with an enveloping attack, a deep and layered core, lively acids and a long, sapid finish. INFORMATIONS ABOUT THE ESTATE

The Henri Giraud Champagne house, located in Aÿ, one of Champagne’s prestigious Grand Crus, is renowned for crafting exceptional cuvées. Led by Claude Giraud, the house specializes in producing Champagne primarily from Pinot Noir, which is known for its richness and complexity. The Giraud house stands out for its unique winemaking technique: primary fermentation is carried out in oak barrels, a rare practice among Champagne houses, enhancing the aromatic richness and depth of the wines.

With an annual production limited to just 250,000 bottles, Henri Giraud’s champagnes are rare and distinguished, setting them apart from major producers. As Robert Parker aptly put it, Henri Giraud is “the finest Champagne house virtually no one has ever heard of,” due to its history of selling wines only to discerning private customers in France and Italy until the 1990s.

Giraud champagnes are characterized by gourmet notes of ripe fruit, dried fruit, apricot, orange zest, and vanilla, offering a perfect balance of freshness and structure. With an exceptional aging potential, they are ideal for wine collectors seeking rare and complex champagnes. These champagnes pair beautifully with fine dining dishes such as seafood, grilled white meats, and aged cheeses.

By buying Champagne online, you gain access to limited-edition millésimes from Henri Giraud, which are often difficult to find in stores, while enjoying fast and secure delivery. Enrich your collection with the exceptional quality of Henri Giraud, a true gem in the world of fine Champagne.
