A visionary estate in Central California Located in Ballard Canyon, Santa Ynez Valley, Jonata spans 586 acres, with 84 under vine. Since 2000, winemaker Matt Dees has led the estate with an innovative and detail-focused approach.

A singular terroir: Careaga sandstone soils The deep sandy soils reduce vine vigor and allow for exceptional drainage. The result: concentrated berries, balanced ripeness, and a distinctive style.

Precise and thoughtful winemaking Each plot is vinified separately. Aging is done in French oak barrels, with varying percentages of new wood. The aim is purity, identity, and finesse.

Wine style Jonata’s wines are structured, aromatic and long-lived. Expect notes of black fruit, violet, spices, and graphite, with a full-bodied mouthfeel and elegant finish.
