In Bordeaux, although 1997 is not a great vintage, it does offer well-balanced reds, which owe their immediate appeal to their wonderful fruitiness. They should be consumed without delay.

In Tuscany, the vintage 1997 is sublime. Indeed, according to the british magazine Decanter, "a great vintage, potentially the best of the decade and amongst the most important in the last thirty years."
