Vouvray is the most famous and most respected appellation of the Loire Valley's Touraine district.
Vouvray is the flagship wine of the Chenin Blanc grape.
Savennieres is a highly respected white wine appellation of the Loire valley wine region of France.
There are two crus (named vineyard areas) in the Savennieres appellation, namely Coulee de Serrant and La Roche aux Moines. Although the appellation as a whole covers only 370 acres (150ha), these two lieux-dits have been identified as capable of producing exceptional Savennieres wines.
Pouilly-Fume – a dry white wine made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes – is one of the Loire Valley's most revered wines. It is rivaled in this regard only by Sancerre, just the other side of the Loire River, and perhaps Vouvray.
The Pouilly-Fumé appellation title was created in 1937.
