Sassicaia is one of the greatest wines of Italy and one of the first reds produced in Italiy to be in the image of great Bordeaux.
The first vintage was produced in 1968 under the denomination "Vino da tavola" (table wine). It's only around 1990, it has obtained the DOC designation.
Tenuta dell'Ornellaia is an Italian wine producer in the DOC Bolgheri in Toscana, known as a producer of "Super Tuscan" wine. Ornellaia is considered one of Italy's leading Bordeaux-style red wines.
Tenuta dell’Ornellaia crafts a range of wines, including its namesake flagship wine, Ornellaia; its second label, Le Serre Nuove; and its entry-level gem, Le Volte.
Made exclusively from the variety Merlot, Masseto possesses great structure and longevity and production is severely limited due to an extremely rigorous selection process.
Marchesi Antinori Srl is an Italian wine company that can trace its history back to 1385. They are one of the biggest wine companies in Italy, and their innovations played a large part in the "Super-Tuscan" revolution of the 1970s.
Vineyards and Wines
Tignanello is a 47 hectare vineyard acquired in 1900 and gives its name to Antinori's most famous wine. Since 1982, Tignanello has been made from 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The vineyard lies at 1150–1312 feet above sea level, within the Santa Cristina estate (also known as Tenuta Tignanello).
Solaia - 'The sunny one' is a 10 hectare vineyard adjacent to Tignanello in the Mercatale Val di Pesa zone of Chianti Classico. The eponymous wine was released in 1978 as an 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc blend, although that has now evolved to a mix of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 20% Sangiovese.
These wines are produced only in excellent vintages, fruit not used goes into Antinori's Chianti Classico Riserva, Tenute del Marchese and the IGT Villa Antinori.
Gaja is an Italian wine producer from the Piemonte region in the district of Langhe, chiefly producing a number of Barbaresco and Barolo wines.
The 1967 debut release of Sorì San Lorenzo began his pioneering work with the vinification of single-vineyard wines. This was succeeded by two additional crus, Sorì Tildin (1970) and Costa Russi (1978), both of which derive from the Roncagliette Vineyard.
Each member of this legendary trio is both recognized for achieving a substantive period of maturation and avidly sought on the collector’s market, where all invariably enjoy a substantive degree of appreciation.
The Greppo vineyards of the Biondi Santi family date back to the 1800s.
The estate has twenty five hectares dedicated to the production of the brunello. The traditional agronomy and cellaring practises are still used to give this grape its character and quality.
Biondi Santi releases both an Annata and a Riserva bottling, making both only in good vintages and the latter only in great. While the Annata derives from vines between the ages of ten and 15 years, the Riserva derives from older vines between 25 and 80 years of age.
Franco Biondi Santi always said he wanted to make wines that were never old enough to drink, and the 1975 Riserva we offer today illustrates how long-aging, cellar-worthy and infinitely beautiful his wines were.
Winery located on the East side of the valley of Negrar, Giuseppe Quintarelli is one of the Veneto’s most important producer. He has received renown for the cult wine, Alzero and its mythical Amarone.
Wines produced by the Estate:
Rosso del Bepi IGT:
• Amarone is only produced in exceptional years, in “average” years, the wine is declassified and bottled as Rosso del Bepi. In poor years neither Amarone nor Rosso del Bepi is produced.
Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOC:
• Amarone is only produced in exceptional years
Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOC:
• In truly exceptional years an Amarone Riserva is produced
Alzero Cabernet IGT:
• Harvested before most other grapes, at the end of August and beginning of September;
Amabile del Cerè “Bandito” IGT:
• The rarest of all the Quintarelli wines—the current vintage is 2003 and the one before was 1990. It is named after a lost barrel that was hidden under food stores and undiscovered during a Nazi raid of the property during WWII. The barrel was discovered years later and the wine had aged beautifully.
Romano Dal Forno only established his estate in 1983.
From 8 hectares of vineyard this vigneron-winemaker gets the best out of the Corvina and Rondinella varieties with small yields and rigorous selection during the harvesting.
The house speciality is Amarone, but he makes Valpolicella with the same care as well.
The fruit from the estate's younger vines goes into the Valpolicella, while Amarone is made from vineyards that range from 10 to 30 years of age.
"What is Amarone della Valpolicella to you ? A wine that you cannot discuss. It's an emotion, and emitions cannot be discussed".
Bruno Giacosa has been one of Piemont leading lights for more than fifty years thanks to some of the greatest Barolos and Barbaresco.
His wines now come under two banners: Falletto di Bruno Giacosa which are his own vineyards (24 hectares) and the more simpler label Bruno Giacosa which is grape grower supplied.
The Barbaresco Asili is a 5.5 ha site occupying a prime site high in the Piemonte hills.
His wines are marvellously perfumed on the nose and meaty and full-bodied on the palate.
